Abstract

The sixty-eight engraved rocks of the Creysseilles plateau are distributed in two concentrations separated by a small depression. In each group a deliberate choice of certain rock surfaces is evident. Some blocks were transported from a nearby quarry. The motif range is not identical in both groups: association of the cupule and the cross motif occurs in the western area; association of the cupule, the cross motif and the arch-like motif in the eastern area. This distribution of motifs is analysed and an interpretation is attempted.
