Abstract
The present note is a preliminary report of newly discovered petroglyphs at Sangestoon in the central plateau of Iran. The site consists of separated panels of open-air rock carvings. Ibexes with long horns, riding horsemen, apparent hunting scenes and apparently nonrepresentational motifs are the main themes that have been carved in different techniques on the flat surfaces of cliffs and rock boulders of Sangestoon mountain. Previous rock art studies in the central plateau of Iran have been only cursory and a collaborative research program should be carried out in a pilot study in this part of Iran.
