Australia
Abstract
This paper presents an appreciation of the content and context of the dry-pigment drawings within Gariwerd (Grampians Ranges) in western Victoria. The drawings constitute a single discrete art phase in the development of the corpus of Gariwerd rock art. A definition
of drawing as it relates to rock art is presented and then the characteristics of the phase are described in detail as a basis for further comparative studies, both in Gariwerd and elsewhere in Australia.
